Teen Therapy

Each phase of a child’s development can create new challenges. For example, many teenagers can assert their “voice” to demonstrate their independence while others appear to become more withdrawn and seem to have a change of personality. While some challenges can be attributed to the normal part of your teen’s development, additional stressors and mental health conditions can make these challenges more difficult for you and your teen. Some additional stressors include:

  • The birth of a sibling
  • The death of a loved one, such as a family member or a pet
  • Physical or sexual abuse
  • Natural disaster
  • Domestic violence
  • Moving to a new place or attending a new school
  • Being bullied
  • Taking on more responsibility than is age-appropriate
  • Parental divorce or separation

Furthermore, a teen’s age, gender, genetics, available support, and existing repertoire of coping skills can influence their resilience to life changes.

At Connect, your teen will receive counseling in a safe, non-judgmental environment where you and your teen can be confident that counseling is aimed at providing insight into the challenges they are having and relief from the pain they are experiencing.
